Initiative for “Young EU-Russia Summit”

The initiative for The Young EU-Russia Summit is organized by the PA Group EACON (http://www.eacongroup.com) and their partners, Dialogue Platform Brussels-Moscow (www.dpbm.org), as well South-East Finland and St.-Petersburg Growth Office (http://www.finrusoffice.net). This event will take place on the 14 May 2007 in Brussels.

The Young EU-Russia Summit Initiative wants to organise a series of conferences devoted to EU-Russia cooperation involving Young Experts from the EU and Russia. Our objective is to provide leading policy makers including the Heads of State/Heads of Government with challenging ideas and innovative thoughts in order to further improve and strengthen the EU-Russia ties.

This initiative is a long term project. In the future, the “Young EU-Russia Summit” will take place twice a year; once in Europe and once in Russia. Prior to these bi-annual confer-ences we will organise preparatory working group meetings and seminars using inter alia web forums grouping Young Experts from both sides around different up-to-date topics.

The Initiative is having a three-group structure:

(1) Executive Board (EB): responsible for the operational part (with representatives of all driving partners);

(2) (2) Young Experts (YE): from EU and Russia;

(3) Advisory Council (AC) consists of Russian and EU officials, MEPs, business representatives, academics and representatives of NGOs and the media.

This challenging project has raised a high interest among both EU and Russian representa-tives in Brussels. Moreover, the Mission of the Russian Federation to the EU and represen-tatives from EC and EP support the initiative.

The conference “Young EU-Russia Summit” will be supported by sponsors (European and Russian business companies) and resources of the PA Group EACON and their partners Dialogue Platform Brussels-Moscow, as well South-East Finland and St.-Petersburg Growth Office.
